Ursula Ida Lapp

Ursula Ida Lapp (born Emmelmann ; born May 30, 1930 in Benshausen , Thuringia ) is a German entrepreneur . She is Oskar Lapp's widow .

Life

In 1957, Oskar Lapp developed the world's first industrially manufactured control cable, which was marketed under the brand name Ölflex®. The Lapp couple began shipping the cables in a garage in Vaihingen and on the first floor of their house. At that time, Ursula Ida Lapp personally brought the parcels to the post office and the train. In the period that followed, Oskar and Ursula Ida Lapp jointly set up sales for the new product.

In 1959 Ursula Ida Lapp and her husband Oskar Lapp founded the UI Lapp KG named after her in Stuttgart. Ursula Ida Lapp was responsible for accounting, logistics, purchasing and shipping right from the start. Today the Lapp Group is a global company in the field of cable technology with 3000 employees and 805 million euros in sales.

After Oskar Lapp's death, Ursula Ida Lapp continued to run the company together with her sons Siegbert and Andreas. Today she is chairwoman of the supervisory board of Lapp Holding AG. In addition to the management function in the company for the CDU, she was in the regional parliament.

After the company Lapp-Kabel contributed 600,000 euros, the Möhringen community center was built in March 2008 . In return, Lapp-Kabel received the naming rights for the large citizens' hall on the ground floor. It was therefore named after Ursula Ida Lapp, the wife of the company's founder, Oskar Lapp.
