The Catholic German Student Union Ascania Bonn ( KDStV Ascania Bonn ) is a Catholic color-bearing student union founded in 1894 at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität zu Bonn . She is a member of the Cartell Association of Catholic German Student Associations (CV).

history

In May 1894 the student union was founded as a Catholic, color-bearing and non- striking association at the agricultural college, which later became the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität in Bonn with the principles of Christianity - Patria - friendship . The principles today are: Religio, Scientia, Amicitia, Patria .

In 1896 the KDStV Germania Berlin, the KDStV Makaria Berlin (later Aachen), the KDStV Carolingia Stuttgart-Hohenheim, the KDStV Arminia Düsseldorf (later Asgard Cologne) and the KDStV Saxo-Silesia Hannover formed a cartel of Catholic connections . The Ascania Bonn also joined this first CKV. After the end of the Academic Kulturkampf in 1908, the Cartel Assembly in 1912 was accepted into the Cartell Association (CV).

After the National Socialist harmonization in 1933, the climate for student associations became more difficult. Ascania Bonn preceded the compulsory dissolution of CV in 1935 and was dissolved in 1934. The re-establishment took place immediately after the end of the war in 1945. The KDStV Rheinfels Bonn, founded in 1946, merged with the KDStV Ascania Bonn in 1986.

The association is based in its own building in the southern part of Bonn. With approx. 450 members (as of 2009), Ascania Bonn is one of the largest CV connections. The KDStV Ascania provided in 1950/1951 and 1951/1952 as well as 1977/1978 together with the Bonn Cartel Association Novesia the suburb of the Cartell Association of Catholic German Student Associations.

Friendship connection is the KÖHV Alpinia Innsbruck in the ÖCV .
