Cartel of Catholic Connections

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Cartell Catholic Associations (CKV) was the name of several amalgamations of Catholic student associations at agricultural or veterinary universities, which later became part of the Cartell Association of Catholic German Student Associations .

history

Since the end of the 19th century, color-bearing Catholic student associations were founded at agricultural and veterinary colleges. Saxo-Silesia Hannover was founded in Hanover in 1887 , Germania Berlin in 1895 and Makaria Berlin in 1896, Alsatia Bonn in Bonn in 1896 , later Ascania Bonn , in Munich in 1900 the Algovia Munich , in Hohenheim in 1910 the Carolingia Hohenheim , and in Düsseldorf in 1914 the Arminia Düsseldorf (later Asgard Cologne ).

Since it was founded in 1856, the Cartell Association prescribed the maturity principle to its member associations . This meant that all members of a Cartell association should have the Abitur ( Matura ). At that time, the Abitur was a mandatory requirement for studying at a university , but not at agricultural and veterinary universities. Accordingly, only connections at one university could become members of the Cartell Association.

First cartel of Catholic connections at agricultural colleges

On June 8, 1896, Germania Berlin, Makaria Berlin and Saxo-Silesia Hannover merged to form the Cartel of Catholic Associations at Agricultural Universities . These connections had been approved by the Senate at both her town's agricultural and veterinary schools.

Alsatia Bonn joined this cartel later in the year, but had to suspend that same year. The Cartell of Catholic Associations was viewed in 1899 by the Cartell Association of German Catholic Student Associations as a friendly Cartell. Due to the resignation of Germania Berlin and Saxo-Silesia Hanover in 1900 due to internal conflicts, the CKV was considered dissolved on June 11, 1900.

Cartel of Catholic connections at veterinary colleges

The desire to return to a Cartell relationship led Makaria Berlin, Saxo-Silesia Hanover and Algovia Munich to merge on April 14, 1901 to form the Cartell of Catholic associations at veterinary universities .

Soon, however, the connections took over the Abitur as a requirement for membership. In 1903 Makaria Berlin and Saxo-Silesia Hanover were also recognized as a free association, but not as full members of the Cartell Association. Due to the departure of Algovia Munich, the Cartel of Catholic Associations was considered dissolved in 1905.

In 1907 Makaria Berlin and Saxo-Silesia Hanover were accepted as full members of the Cartell Association, and in 1924 Algovia Munich as well.

Second cartel of Catholic connections at agricultural colleges

On July 5, 1902, Germania Berlin and Ascania Bonn merged to form a cartel. On July 2, 1911, the Carolingia Hohenheim joined them. The Cartell was then renamed the Cartell of Catholic Agricultural Associations .

On July 25, 1914, Arminia Düsseldorf joined the Cartell. In 1919 membership negotiations began with the Cartell Association of German Catholic Student Associations.

The CKV existed until its voluntary dissolution in 1920. Germania Berlin and Asgard Cologne then became full members of the Cartell Association, Ascania Bonn followed in 1921 and Carolingia Hohenheim in 1923.

The Starkenburger Cartellverband was a comparable amalgamation of technical universities that did not comply with the Matura principle either .
