Eugene Hasenfus

Eugene H. Hasenfus (* 22. January 1941 ) is a former pilot and construction workers from Wisconsin , who on behalf of the CIA illegally by air weapons for the Contra War in Nicaragua fighting Cons transported.

Life

Hasenfus was the only survivor of the Fairchild C-123 cargo plane that was shot down over Nicaragua on October 5, 1986 . He was the only one of the three crew members to carry a parachute, disregarding the regulations. Weapons and other military equipment as well as numerous documents and letters from retired CIA employees were found on board the machine. He was arrested, charged and sentenced to 25 years in prison by the Nicaraguan government. In December 1986 he was pardoned and released by Daniel Ortega . Hasenfus' capture played an important role in exposing the Iran-Contra affair .

Hasenfus later made headlines through several cases of exhibitionism . He became the public exposure in on 10 July 2000 Brookfield ( Wisconsin ) accused, followed by another case in January 2003 in a parking lot of a grocery store in Howard (Wisconsin), after which he received a suspended sentence. After a third incident on May 25, 2005 in a parking lot belonging to the Wal-Mart chain in Marinette County, Wisconsin, he received a prison sentence which he served until December 17, 2005 in Green Bay Prison, Wisconsin.
