Eugenie Erdosy

Eugenie Erdösy ( 1860 in Groß-Kanizsa , Kingdom of Hungary - 9 September 1886 in Berlin , German Empire ) was a Hungarian stage actress and opera and operetta singer ( soprano ).

Life

Erdösy began her career as an operetta singer under Franz Steiner's direction at the Theater an der Wien . You immediately recognized that you were dealing with a most graceful, amiable talent.

She later joined the Association of the Friedrich Wilhelmstädtischer Theater and then became a member of the Wallner Theater in Berlin. There, too, she delighted with her lovely appearance, her ingratiating, well-educated voice and the amiability of her presentation.

It quickly rose to the peak of popularity and gained a notable fortune as a result of glamorous guest performances and high fees for the time, increased by the possession of inherited money.

Slander of all kinds embittered her existence and when she was betrayed in the most disgraceful way, she gave herself up on September 9, 1886 in order to punish infamous slander and to show the purity of her honor , death. Attempts were still made to save her, but she died in the Charité .

The reason for her suicide was that her fiancé questioned her virginity. In her will, she demanded an autopsy to determine her virginity, which was also done.
