Eugenio Aguilar Gonzalez Batres (born November 15, 1804 in Santiago Nonualco , † April 23, 1879 in San Salvador ) was Supremo Director of El Salvador from February 20, 1846 to February 7, 1848 .

Life

Eugenio Aguilar was the posthumous son of José Antonio Aguilar and Juana de González y Batres. Eugenio Aguilar was a doctor. He married Dolores Padilla y Castillo. In 1839 he became mayor of San Salvador. In 1840 he became an army surgeon. In 1844 he became a professor at the Universidad de El Salvador (UES) and later dean of the UES. On July 12, 1846, against the resistance of the military, he gave his position as Supremo Director to Fermín Palacios , who declared a state of emergency the following day . After nine days Eugenio Aguilar took over this office again after he had been asked to do so by the municipal administration of the Municipios of San Salvador, the authorities and the neighbors. On July 29, 1846, he forbade José Jorge Viteri y Ungo , whom Fermín Palacios had expelled, from re-entry.
