Euodos (epigram writer)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Euodos (also: Evodus, Greek Εὔοδος ) was a Greek poet and author of two short epigrams of the Greek anthology . It could be that he represents the same person as Euodus of Rhodes , who worked at the time of Emperor Nero and is mentioned in the Suda . One of his teachers was Caligula .

The longer of the two epigrams, which Euodus can certainly be ascribed to, is a grave inscription in which he swears that the immortal soul lives in heaven and is comforted there.
