Cobus 2500e

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Cobus 2500e is a battery bus . It is the first omnibus model from the manufacturer Cobus Industries from Wiesbaden with a purely electric drive . The vehicle , originally developed as an apron bus , will go into series production from September 2011 . The bus is twelve meters long and has space for 66 passengers (24 seats and 42 standing places), has two entrances and a range of around 150 kilometers. The energy supply is ensured by seven lithium-ion accumulators with a total capacity of 150 kilowatt hours . The buses are to roll off the assembly line in Porto , a northern Portuguese city on the Atlantic coast, in a small series . Alternatively, the Cobus 2500 - with either a gas drive or a low-emission diesel engine - is to be added, which is also to go into series production at the same time. The first test drive to present the electric bus took place in July 2011.

Use in regular services

From October 31, 2011, a Cobus 2500e was in trial operation on the 17-kilometer-long line 103 of Offenbacher Verkehrs-Betriebe between Mühlheim am Main , Offenbach am Main and Frankfurt - Bornheim . A separate schedule was drawn up for this vehicle , which took into account the necessary charging processes for the batteries . The trial run was originally planned until December 15, 2011. On November 23, 2011 it was announced that the trial operation would be discontinued in mid-November. The pilot project was interrupted because the vehicle itself drove without problems, but from the operator's point of view the installed heating system turned out to be insufficient for winter operation. Trial operation was resumed on February 7, 2012 with a modified heating system.
