The Offenbacher of transporting enterprises GmbH (OVB) is the municipal transport company of the city of Offenbach am Main . They operate the Offenbach city buses on behalf of Nahverkehr in Offenbach GmbH (NiO), see local transport in Offenbach am Main .
Company structure
The company is a subsidiary of Stadtwerke Offenbach Holding GmbH. Local public transport has existed in Offenbach since 1884. The Offenbach am Main tram ran until 1967, and then the Offenbach am Main trolleybus operated as a replacement from 1951 to 1972 . Since Offenbach is a member of the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund (RMV), OVB is a local transport company in the RMV, which serves the Offenbach regional authority on behalf of NiO.
Cobus 2500e electric bus
From October 31, 2011, a battery bus of the type Cobus 2500e from the manufacturer Contrac Cobus Industries was one of the first purely electrically operated public transport buses in Germany on the 17-kilometer-long OVB line 103 between Mühlheim am Main , Offenbach am Main and Frankfurt am Main in trial operation . A separate schedule was drawn up for this vehicle , which took into account the necessary charging processes for the bus. The trial run was originally planned until December 15, 2011. On November 23, 2011 it was announced that the trial operation would be discontinued in mid-November. The pilot project was interrupted because the vehicle itself drove without any problems, but the installed heating system turned out to be insufficient for winter operation from the operator's point of view. In March 2016, an electric vehicle from the Dutch manufacturer VDL Bus & Coach was tested .
The procurement of up to 23 additional electric buses (standard line buses and standard articulated buses) is planned by 2022.
