Rates
Local transport within Offenbach is integrated into the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund ( RMV for short ); its tariffs and tickets apply on all rail and bus routes.
The A1 tariff area 3601 covers the entire city area, Offenbach is also in the A tariff area 3600, which covers the eastern part of the Offenbach district. Instead of the price level 1 that normally applies to an A1 tariff area, the city price level 2 applies in Offenbach, which is only used for journeys within Offenbach throughout the network. Despite the special status, tariff zone 3601 counts for trips to other tariff zones, like a normal A1 tariff zone. Thus, a single trip for adults to neighboring Mühlheim (tariff area 3630) costs € 2.70 only 10 cents more than the single trip within Offenbach, which costs € 2.60.
The trip to Frankfurt, which is about the same distance from Offenbach city center as to Mühlheim, costs € 4.95 (price level 4) or € 4.10 with the 2019 intermediate price level 30. In contrast to price level 4 with which the entire Frankfurt city area, including the airport, as well as the entire city and the entire district of Offenbach, the intermediate price level only applies to the Offenbach city area and parts of Frankfurt (city center, Sachsenhausen, Oberrad, Fechenheim, Bergen-Enkheim and tariff area 5059 between the accident clinic and Bad Vilbel). This leap is due to the special tariff status of the city of Frankfurt, which requires a higher fare due to the dense transport network, especially with trams, S-Bahn and U-Bahn. City price level 3 therefore applies within Frankfurt. Trips to and from Frankfurt are always at least price level 4 or 30.
For trips from Offenbach only to the Oberrad district of Frankfurt, the intermediate price level has been in effect since the introduction of the slightly cheaper price level 3 (single adult trip: 3.25 €). Not to be confused with the city price level 3 valid within Frankfurt (single adult ticket: € 2.75) (prices as of January 1, 2019)
On average, tickets are around 5 to 10 cents more expensive each year. The prices of the single ticket for adults in the last five years:
- 2014: € 2.25
- 2015: € 2.30
- 2016: € 2.35.
- 2017: € 2.45
- 2018: € 2.50
- 2019: € 2.60
