The station zeilsheim is a breakpoint in the network of the Rhine-Main S-Bahn . It was opened on May 13, 2007 after extensive construction work.

Name and location

western access to platform 2

The stop is on the embankment of the Main-Lahn-Bahn , which also marks the border between the Sindlingen and Zeilsheim districts. The platform towards the city center and Dietzenbach is in Sindlingen, while the platform towards Niedernhausen is in Zeilsheim.

The Sindlinger Bahnstrasse / West-Höchster-Strasse runs through a road break . There is the eastern entrance to the station with a staircase and a ramp. A second breakthrough for pedestrians was created at the western entrance to connect the Ferdinand-Hofmann-Siedlung and the International School Frankfurt-Rhein / Main in Sindlingen.

Although the stop is in the district of Frankfurt Sindlingen and not in the eponymous Zeilsheim, the stop was named after Zeilsheim, because the Sindlingen stop already exists. The designation "Sindlingen Nord" was rejected by Deutsche Bahn .

The construction costs of the stop amounted to 6.75 million euros, borne by the city of Frankfurt, the state of Hesse and the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund (RMV).

Bus transport

In order to better connect the station, the entire bus network in the west of Frankfurt was revised for the 2006/2007 timetable change in December 2006 . Bus routes 50 and 51, which previously had their terminus in Kolberger Weg , have been withdrawn to Höchst. The new line 53 was set up for this purpose, which, like the existing line 54, stops at the station and strengthens it in Zeilsheim. For the new Zeilsheim Bahnhof bus stop in Sindlingen, the Edenkobener Straße stop has been canceled because the distance is too short .

The city bus lines 53 (Zeilsheim Bahnhof - Höchst Bolongaropalast ), 54 (Sindlingen Friedhof - Griesheim Bahnhof ) and 57 (Taunusblick settlement - Industriepark Höchst Tor West), which connect the stop with the center of the district, stop at the neighboring bus stop .

For line 53, a large bus station with a turning system was built on the opposite eastern side of the street , as it has its terminus there. However, the construction of this system was delayed, which is why the line was provisionally extended to Sindlinger Bahnhof . The stops for lines 54 and 57 are located directly in the eastern underpass.

The Zeilsheim Bahnhof bus stop is also served by the n8 night bus.

history

The communities of Zeilsheim and Sindlingen were incorporated into the city of Höchst am Main in 1917 , and this to Frankfurt in 1928. The construction of the train station between Zeilsheim and Sindlingen was part of the incorporation contract between Frankfurt and Höchst am Main. Appendix 5 (Municipal Program of the City of Höchst am Main) stated that "... a stop on the Limburg Railway for Sindlingen-Zeilsheim will be set up as soon as possible."

On Sindlinger Bahnstrasse

The plans for today's construction are based on the "Investigations for the update of the general transport plan 1976/82, part of the overall rail network 2000 in Frankfurt am Main". The construction of an S-Bahn station in Zeilsheim was rated positively. Therefore, after several years of preparatory work, the city council commissioned the city council on April 29, 1999 with the preliminary planning for the construction of the stop.

After the construction planning was drawn up by the City of Frankfurt and the plan approval procedure had been carried out by Deutsche Bahn AG, construction of the project began in January 2006. Originally, the Zeilsheim train station was to be opened on December 10, 2006 when the timetable changed. However, due to considerable delays and mishaps in the construction work, the opening was postponed to spring 2007. After April was initially given as the date, Deutsche Bahn named May 13, 2007 as the opening date, which could ultimately be kept.

This means that this point from the incorporation agreement of 1928 was fulfilled after 79 years.
