The Frankfurt-Sindlingen train station is a train - stop at the Taunus Railway from Frankfurt (Main) Hauptbahnhof to Wiesbaden Central Station .

location

The stop is in the center of the Sindlingen district of Frankfurt . The main street of the district, Sindlinger Bahnstraße , crosses the railway line here. The breakpoint also forms the southern end of Richard-Weidlich-Platz . At the northern platform is the Haus Sindlingen , which the district as a community center and library serves.

history

In the 19th century, the central and northern part of Sindlingen was almost undeveloped. The village had just under 750 inhabitants. The Frankfurt – Wiesbaden railway, built in 1839, ran through this area and crossed the road to Zeilsheim , today's Sindlinger Bahnstrasse . With advancing industrialization, especially through the growth of Hoechst AG , there was a considerable increase in population in Sindlingen and the surrounding towns. At the Taunus-Eisenbahn as well as at the later built, north-lying Main-Lahn-Bahn , stops were to be created, of which only the southern one was initially built on the Taunus-Eisenbahn. It was opened in 1893 under the name Sindlingen-Zeilsheim . The intersection with today's Sindlinger Bahnstrasse was still a level crossing at that time . The original station building was replaced by a new one in 1968, but it burned down completely on February 29, 1984 after an explosion. In 1978, S-Bahn operations were introduced in the Frankfurt Transport Association and the R1 line that stopped here became the S1. A major renovation followed in 1980 when the level crossing was converted into an underpass.

It was not until 2007 that the long-planned Zeilsheim stop was opened 500 meters further north, also on Sindlinger Bahnstrasse, on the Main-Lahn-Bahn .

Infrastructure

The northern and southern platforms are on different sides of Sindlinger Bahnstrasse. Access to the platforms is possible at the same level, with the line being crossed by a separate pedestrian underpass, parallel to the street underpass. The side of the street is changed by two pedestrian walkways parallel to the railway bridge. In addition to the central entrances on the street side, the platforms also have additional external entrances to park-and-ride parking spaces. The platforms are very economical only with so-called "DB plus points".

use

The only S-Bahn line that stops at the Frankfurt-Sindlingen stop is the S1, which runs between Rödermark-Ober Roden and Wiesbaden Hauptbahnhof every 15/30/60 minutes. Due to its proximity to the West Gate of the Höchst Industrial Park and the International School, it is very busy during rush hour.

Bus line 54 in the direction of Frankfurt-Griesheim train station or Sindlinger Friedhof and bus line 57 in the direction of Taunusblick settlement also stops at the stop .
