Local traffic in Oberhausen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The transport system in Oberhausen is determined primarily by bus and tram lines of STOAG provided. However, the city also has lines from the neighboring transport companies MVG , EVAG (these two began operating as Ruhrbahn on September 1, 2017 ), Vestische Straßenbahnen , DVG and NIAG . Overall, there are more inter-city lines in Oberhausen than purely inner-city lines, with the inter-city lines being operated jointly with STOAG. The central transfer point for road-bound public transport in Oberhausen is the Oberhausen-Sterkrade train station , which is served by the vast majority of bus and tram lines. The second largest local transport hub is the main train station , where all local trains cross around Oberhausen. With the exception of bus lines 26, 124, 128, 185, 905, 918 and 953, every bus line that runs in the Oberhausen city area serves the Sterkrad train station and / or the main train station.

Past and present in Oberhausen: Meeting of the tram generations on the new public transport route

Public transport route Oberhausen

The Oberhausen public transport route can be seen as the innovative heart of Oberhausen's local traffic. This connects the Sterkrader Bahnhof, the CentrO and the Hauptbahnhof on a 7 km long route and was laid out on a former freight railway line of the HOAG . The public transport route is a bus and tram route that is completely separate from individual traffic, which begins in Sterkrade at the train station until 2004 and in Sterkrade am Neumarkt since 2004 and ends at Oberhausen central train station. It has further entrances to the OLGA-Park and the Bismarckviertel. The travel time from Sterkrade train station to the main train station is 11 minutes by bus or train.

In addition, it was to be extended by a roughly 3.3 km long new line to the city limits of Essen - Frintrop , which runs between Gasometer and Bundesstrasse 231 through the eastern New Middle Oberhausen  ( Marina Oberhausen / Sea Life Oberhausen , Metronom Theater and steel works premises) like the Main route runs as an elevated mixed bus and tram route. The aim of these plans is to extend the tram line 105 of the Essen tram that ends there .

There is currently only one tram line in Oberhausen, the line 112. It starts in Oberhausen-Sterkrade and leads over the Oberhausen public transport route to Oberhausen main station and then over the Mülheimer Straße (B223) to the neighboring Mülheim an der Ruhr, where it leads to the Styrum district and crosses the city center and ends at the main cemetery. It runs every 15 minutes along its entire length. At night the line 112 is called NE 12, but as such in Mülheim does not run to the main cemetery, but ends in the city center at Kaiserplatz. Like all other NE lines, line NE12 runs every 60 minutes. The tram line is operated as a joint line between STOAG and MVG , but the vehicles are completely serviced in Mülheim, as Oberhausen does not have its own tram depot.

Essen tram line 105 at the sub- street terminus directly on the city limits between Oberhausen and Essen-Frintrop

The Oberhausen public transport route is crossed at the CentrO by the federal highway 231 , which after a distance of about 2 km reaches the city limits of Essen - Frintrop , where Oberhausen's second potential tram line ends, namely tram line 105 of the Essen tram, which is currently running entirely in Essen's urban area . Actually, it was supposed to be expanded in the years 2015-2018 with a 3.3 km long new line from the city limits to the CentrO and reach Oberhausen, the Oberhausen main station and the Sterkrader station via the public transport route. The implementation of this regional infrastructure project was overturned on March 8, 2015 by a council decision. However, the plans were registered in the state's public transport requirement plan in November 2015. In addition, the infrastructure project has been updated in the 2017 local transport plan.

Daytime traffic

A total of 33 bus routes operate in Oberhausen during the day, of which the inner-city routes are operated by STOAG. Most of these bus routes, however, cross cities and are then often operated in shared transport with neighboring companies. The bus network consists of seven express bus routes and 26 city bus routes, whereby the express bus routes, contrary to their name, often also perform development functions , especially in Alstaden . This is due to the fact that the Oberhausen express bus network consists of the lines that quickly connect the city districts to the Centro and the main train station via the public transport route. However, this rule is confirmed by the three exceptions SB94, SB97 and 960. The two express bus routes 94 and 97 do not run from Sterkrade to the main train station via the local public transport route, but straight through Schwarze Heide , Buschhausen and Lirich . The city bus line 960 runs between Sterkrade and the main train station completely on the public transport route.

All express and city bus lines, with the exception of lines 26, 124, 128, 905/906, 907 and 918, which as connections from neighboring companies only touch Oberhausen in peripheral areas, serve at least one of the three nodes Sterkade Bahnhof , Neue Mitte and Hauptbahnhof . It is Sterkrade train station the largest node and is controlled by most bus routes.

Night traffic

Even at night you are mobile in Oberhausen with the NE network of STOAG. This reaches all parts of the city in Oberhausen. Lines NE1 and NE2 are the only lines that serve the entire length of the public transport route from Sterkrade to the main station. However, other lines also run on the public transport route. The largest hub of the night network is the Sterkrad train station, where almost all NE lines meet. Only the NE lines 11 and 21 do not go to the Sterkrad train station. At minute 42, all NE lines with the exception of NE2, NE5 and NE10 take part in the Oberhausen rally. The NE2 does not take part in the rally, but runs 30 minutes at a time, so that it can offer a half-hourly service on the Oberhausen public transport route together with the NE1. The NE5 is tailored to the trains at the main station, which could only be reached with very long waiting times when participating in the rally in Sterkrade. The NE10 takes part in the Mülheim rally and can therefore not be included in the Oberhausen rally.

The NE lines 1–9 run completely within Oberhausen and all NE lines with numbers from 10 onwards cross cities. The NE line 12 is the only NE line that does not operate as a bus but as a tram line and follows the course of the tram line 112.

Rail transport

Reception building of the main station

The main railway junction is the main station , where many railway lines intersect: Duisburg – Dortmund , Oberhausen – Arnhem , Oberhausen – Duisburg-Ruhrort and Oberhausen – Mülheim-Styrum.
This means that Oberhausen has a dense network of regional trains and S-Bahns , with the S -Bahns in Oberhausen only serve the main station, but no other station. In addition, Oberhausen Hauptbahnhof is also a long-distance railway junction and the last stop in North Rhine-Westphalia for long-distance trains to the Netherlands.

The second most important railway stop in Oberhausen is the Oberhausen-Sterkrade station . Although it is only located on a railway line, the bus station belonging to the train station is the largest local transport hub in Oberhausen, so that it is also a major transport hub itself.

In addition to Oberhausen Hauptbahnhof and Oberhausen-Sterkrade, there are two other railway stations with passenger services in Oberhausen. These are Oberhausen-Osterfeld Süd and Oberhausen-Holten . The Duisburg-Obermeiderich stop is also located directly on the city limits between Oberhausen- Alstaden and Duisburg - Obermeiderich .

The Oberhausen-Osterfeld – Hamm railway connects the Bottrop main train station and the Essen-Dellwig Ost train station for a short distance across the city of Oberhausen in the Borbeck district . However, the three local trains RE14, RB45 and S9 pass the Oberhausen city area without stopping on their way between Bottrop Hbf and Essen-Dellwig Ost.

The following trains serve the stations in Oberhausen, the long-distance trains only serve the main station:

Future of local transport

A wide variety of suggested measures were collected for the current local transport plan. This was adopted on February 13, 2017. The goals of the new NVP include:

  • Extension of tram line 105 from the city limits of Essen / Oberhausen to Oberhausen
  • Extension of tram line 112 from Sterkrade to Schmachtendorf
  • Extension of express bus line 90 from Alstaden to Styrum train station .
  • Extension of the express bus line 94 from Essen-Unterstraße to Essen-Dellwig train station , as well as guidance of the 957 bus line from Oberhausen-Borbeck to Essen-Dellwig train station
