The Dortmund-Kurl train station is located in the Kurl district of the same name on the Dortmund – Hamm railway line and is served by the RE3 (Rhein-Emscher-Express) and, until December 2016, the RE11 (Rhein-Hellweg-Express); the RE1 (NRW-Express) also stops here . There are trains to Hamm , the Ruhr area , Dusseldorf , Cologne and Aachen in the regional rail transport . The track systems consist of two platform tracks, an overtaking track to avoid the passing long-distance trains and a platform-free freight track that is no longer used.
history
In the first years of the Cöln-Minden Railway , which went into operation in 1847, there was only one simple stop in Kurl. The ticket sales were carried out in the nearby restaurant Zur Mühle . The Kurl colliery, built in 1855, was given a siding at Kurl station.
On April 1, 1886, the first permanent station building was erected, which is located on the south side of the railway line and still exists today as a residential building. The former station keeper's house is also inhabited.
In 1908 a new station building was built on the north side of the track system , which has now been bricked up in the course of construction work.
In 2019, the platform was modernized and extended as part of the work for the Rhein-Ruhr-Express , equipped with guide strips for the blind and brought from the former 38 to a height of 76 cm above the upper edge of the rail . Access to the platform was also changed. To replace the entrance through the station building, a ramp and an external staircase were built between the street and the underpass. An elevator was also built between the underpass and the platform.
The station building is registered as a monument in the list of monuments of the city of Dortmund .
