The Castrop-Rauxel Hauptbahnhof station is located in the center of the Castrop-Rauxel district of Rauxel . Besides Recklinghausen Hauptbahnhof, it is the only station in the Recklinghausen district that is designated as a Hauptbahnhof .

history

The station is on the Duisburg – Dortmund line of the former Cologne-Mindener Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft , a section of their main line from (Cöln-) Deutz to Minden . With the opening of this section on May 15, 1847, it was handed over to the public transport service as a Castrop stop and was expanded to a train station with goods traffic processing until 1862.

At the end of the 19th century, in view of the location in the Rauxel office at the time, the name was first changed to Rauxel station . After the municipal reform of 1926, which among other things brought about the merger of the city of Castrop with the Amt Rauxel, the station was given the name Castrop-Rauxel Hbf due to its importance for the newly formed city .

After severe war damage, it was rebuilt in a simplified form.
