Mülheim-Heimaterde is a district of the city of Mülheim an der Ruhr , which is part of the Heißen district.

history

The name goes back to the "Heimaterde" settlement , the construction of which began in 1918 on the initiative of Krupp authorized signatory Max Halbach by the "Heimaterde" eGmbH settlement cooperative . According to the plans of the Mülheim architect Theodor Suhnel , the houses of the first construction phases were built until 1929. In the 1930s, more buildings were added, and a few houses were demolished around 1960.

Suhnels urban concept for the settlement is under the influence of acquired at the beginning of the 20th century from the UK garden city idea , which was not implemented here with full consistency. Structural changes over the last four decades have impaired the original appearance of the settlement, but also testify to the acceptance of the residential location by the residents.

The "Heimaterde" settlement is right next to the fields of the Riemelsbeck and is part of the route of industrial culture .

The gymnastics and sports club TSV Heimaterde was founded in 1925. The soccer department now has four girls' teams. These are the U-11, U-13, U-15 and U-17. In 2016, the Ascheplatz will also give way to a new artificial turf pitch.
