Maredo Restaurants Holding GmbH is a Düsseldorf- based restaurant chain that was founded in 1973 and specializes in steaks .

The first Maredo restaurant was opened on Kurfürstendamm in Berlin in the same year . In 1989 Maredo opened its 20th steak house in Germany. Austria's first Maredo steakhouse opened in Vienna in 1989. The name is made up of two letters of the three founders Ma nfred Holl, Karl-Heinz Re inheimer and U do vents.

In terms of the number of restaurants it operates, Maredo is the second largest chain in the steakhouse segment in Germany. The company has a total of 35 locations in Germany and two in Austria ( Vienna and Salzburg ). The company was taken over in a management buy-out in 2005 by the management and the private equity fund GEP , previously it belonged to the British Whitbread group. Munich-based financial investor Perusa has been the owner of the restaurant chain since 2017.

The company imports meat from Argentina and Uruguay . As a special offer, meat from Ireland and dry aged steaks are also offered at times. In addition to steaks, the products also include salads from the salad bar and various starters, side dishes and desserts. The steak house chain offers a weekly changing lunch menu. Meat for self-preparation can be purchased in some Edeka branches.

Maredo has been a sponsor in the field of ice hockey since 2018. In the same year, the company started redesigning some steakhouses with a new design concept in cooperation with the bk Group. In 2016, Maredo also opened its flagship restaurant with an open grill in the restaurant on Berlin's Gendarmenmarkt.

In March 2020, major companies in the Maredo Group filed for insolvency at the Düsseldorf District Court on their own responsibility.
