Mellinghofen is a district of the city of Mülheim an der Ruhr in North Rhine-Westphalia and belongs to the Mülheim district of Altstadt II . Until its incorporation in 1878, Mellinghofen was a municipality in what was then the district of Mülheim an der Ruhr .
geography
Mellinghofen connects to the Eppinghofen district to the north and is essentially east of Mellinghofer Straße. With the Horbachtal there is a larger green corridor in Mellinghofen. The Papenbusch settlement in Mellinghofen is an important cultural landscape area.
history
The first written mention of Mellinghofen comes from the 10th century. In the 19th century, Mellinghofen was initially a rural community in the mayor's office of Mülheim-Land. This belonged to the district of Duisburg until 1874 and since then to the district of Mülheim an der Ruhr. On April 1, 1878, Mellinghofen was incorporated into the city of Mülheim an der Ruhr together with Eppinghofen.
