The district of Mülheim an der Ruhr , which was the district of Mülheim an der Ruhr until 1901 , was a district in the Düsseldorf administrative district of the Prussian Rhine province from 1874 to 1910 . Administrative history

After 1873, the city of Duisburg as a new urban district in the county Duisburg retired, in 1874 the circle of Duisburg from the remaining parts of district Mülheim formed based in the city of Mülheim an der Ruhr. It initially had the following administrative structure:

The mayor's office in Mülheim-Land was divided up in 1878:

  • The communities Eppinghofen and Mellinghofen were incorporated into the city of Mülheim an der Ruhr.
  • The municipalities of Broich, Saarn and Speldorf formed the new Broich mayor .
  • The communities of Alstaden, Dümpten and Styrum formed the new mayorship of Styrum .
  • The communities of Haarzopf, Heißen, Holthausen, Menden and Raadt formed the new mayorship of Heißen .

The mayor's office of Holten was divided up in 1886:

  • The new mayor's office in Beeck included the two communities Beeck and Hamborn
  • The new mayor's office in Sterkrade comprised the communities of Sterkrade, Holten and Amt Holten (also called Biefang ) as well as the newly formed community of Buschhausen .

The cities of Ruhrort and Dinslaken as well as the mayorships of Beeck, Dinslaken-Land, Duisburg-Land, Gahlen, Götterswickerhamm, Meiderich and Sterkrade left the district on July 1, 1887 and formed the new Ruhrort district . In the following years the circle was further reduced. On April 1, 1901, the city of Mülheim an der Ruhr left the district and formed its own urban district. Since then, the district has been called the Mülheim an der Ruhr district. On April 1, 1904, the city of Oberhausen also left the district and formed its own urban district. At the same time Broich, Holthausen, Saarn, Speldorf and Styrum were incorporated into the city of Mülheim an der Ruhr and Alstaden and Dümpten were raised to their own mayor's offices.
