Hiesfeld is a district of Dinslaken in the Wesel district in North Rhine-Westphalia and is divided into the actual village center as well as Barmingholten and the Hühnerheide.
With around 15,763 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2018), Hiesfeld is the most populous district of Dinslaken. The population of Hiesfeld is almost a quarter of the total population of Dinslaken.
history
Hiesfeld was first in the second half of the 12th century in a land register of the Benedictine Abbey are as Histincfelde mentioned. The Hiesfeld parish was probably founded in the 10th century, to whose catchment area the area of Dinslaken also belonged, until the church of St. Vincentius in Dinslaken was parish off from Hiesfeld in 1436. The village church of Hiesfeld , which was probably built in the 12th century, was dedicated to St. Dedicated to Cyriacus . The Hiesfeld house , a moated castle on the Rotbach , was the ancestral seat of the noble Histfeld family, who were mentioned as servants of the Counts of Kleve since the 13th century.
At the end of the 16th century, Hiesfeld became a Protestant. The struggle between Lutherans and Reformed people for supremacy in the Hiesfeld church accumulated in the sometimes violent Hiesfeld church dispute from 1639–1649. The dispute was only ended by the order of the Elector Friedrich Wilhelm von Brandenburg to the effect that the church could be used as a simultaneous church by both denominations.
In the 19th century, Hiesfeld and neighboring Walsum belonged to the mayor's office of Dinslaken-Land, which was headed by the mayor of the city of Dinslaken. In 1905 Hiesfeld and Walsum were raised to their own mayor's offices. At the instigation of large-scale industry ( Gutehoffnungshütte and Thyssen ), Hiesfeld was added to Dinslaken in 1917 and the southern part of Sterkrade (1581 ha) with 4478 inhabitants, later Oberhausen . Today they form the districts Schmachtendorf with Waldhuck and Waldteich , Walsumermark with Brink and Neuköln and Oberhausen- Barmingholten . After this amalgamation, the communal and mutational boundaries coincided. The Dinslaken settlement districts Grafschaft , Lohberg and Oberlohberg also belonged to the Hiesfeld mayor until 1917.
coat of arms
Blazon : The coat of arms of Hiesfeld shows, in a shield divided by silver (white) and red, growing above the holy Cyriacus in silver (white) regalia, with a red cap and a red pallium, in his right hand a black palm branch, in his left an open, black book with silver (white) cut holds, below in a red field above a silver (white), black hatched heart label, half a silver (white) eight-pointed lily reel.
Significance: Saint Cyriacus has been proven to be the patron saint of the Hiesfeld Church since the 15th century. Half of his picture was also found on the Hiesfeld jury's seal. The lower part of the coat of arms documents Hiesfeld's affiliation to the Duchy of Kleve. The coat of arms of the Dukes of Kleve shows eight lily wands in the form of a St. Andrew's cross. The Duke of Kleve was also one of Hiesfeld's church patrons. The sports club TV Jahn Hiesfeld has also had this coat of arms since 1928.
Culture and sights
Among the buildings worth mentioning are the village church, Haus Hiesfeld, the windmill and the watermill on the Rotbach with its mill museum. The tower windmill was built in 1822. 100 years later, operations were stopped. The mill, which was badly damaged in World War II, was restored a few years later. The origin of the water mill initially consisted only of the half-timbered building that was built in 1693. The brick house on the other side of the Rotbach was built later and served as the main building for the mill as well as the miller's house. There is a medium-sized water wheel between the two buildings.
Churches
The seven Catholic churches in Dinslaken all belong to the parish of St. Vincentius. The St. Vincentius Church is located in the old town of Dinslaken.
Two of the seven churches are in Hiesfeld. The Heilig Geist church is located at Riemenschneiderstraße 5 and the Herz-Jesu church at Kirchstraße 278.
The village church has existed in parts since the 12th century and is the only Protestant church in Hiesfeld. The west tower has largely survived to this day. The nave in its current form dates from the 15th century.
freetime and sports
In addition to the Rotbachtal, Hiesfeld offers an outdoor pool , which is closed until further notice, and a skate track. There is also the sports club TV Jahn Hiesfeld , whose 1st soccer team took part in the Lower Rhine League in 2010/11 . There is also a nature trail through the adjacent Hiesfeld Forest, which is designated as a nature reserve and belongs to the Hohe Mark-Westmünsterland Nature Park .
traffic
Hiesfeld is connected to the motorway junctions Dinslaken-Süd of the federal motorway 3 and Dinslaken-Hiesfeld of the federal motorway 59 via the federal highway 8 on the southern edge of the district . The Oberhausen – Arnhem railway line also runs through Hiesfeld . Although Hiesfeld is the most populous district of Dinslaken, the railway line has no train station or stop in Hiesfeld. The next train stations are Dinslaken and Oberhausen-Holten . However, Hiesfeld has several bus stops with lines 17, 25, 26 and 918 operated by NIAG in the VRR transport association in the direction of Dinslaken Holunderweg and Dinslaken Keilerstraße (line 17), Dinslaken train station and Dinslaken Liebigstraße (line 25), Dinslaken Am Landwehrgraben and Dinslaken Kaufmäniche Schools (line 26) as well as Voerde Rathausplatz and Oberhausen Holten Bahnhof (line 918).
