Eppinghoven (etymologically: "Hof von Eberhard's son" or "little Eberhard") is a district of Dinslaken . It is located directly on the Rhine and has 4,185 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2009) . Before the territorial reform , which came into force on January 1, 1975, it belonged partly to Walsum (then 1080 inhabitants on 1.42 km 2 ; today a district of Duisburg ) and partly to Voerde (then 880 inhabitants on 1.04 km 2 ). The traditional manor house of Eppinghovens, the moated house apartment, is still located in the Voerder urban area. The district of Stapp, directly on the Rhine, belongs to Eppinghoven .

It is particularly worth seeing with its floodplains and beer gardens of Stapp . The Emscher has flowed into the Rhine there since 1949 . In a renaturation project , the Emscher estuary is to be converted into a floodplain landscape.

The Catholic St. John's Church is a special attraction . Before that there was a chapel on the site of the church, which was first documented in a lending document from 1226. The church was built later around 1450 and, due to the rapidly growing community, was expanded in 1927/28 with a round building dealing with Gothic influences in the existing Expressionist style .

In Eppinghoven there is a Waldorf school and a sports field with tennis facilities.

coat of arms

Blazon : In green a silver (white) church with red roofs and the tower on the left, above a golden (yellow) segment of a mill wheel.

Meaning: This is a schematic representation of St. John's Church before the expansion in 1927/28. The mill wheel symbolizes the location on the Rotbach , which flows into the Rhine near Eppinghoven. The citizen shooting club carries the coat of arms in its club emblem.
