Averbruch is a district of Dinslaken directly on the lower reaches of the Emscher , has 6573 inhabitants and is located in the south of the city on the border with the Duisburg district of Walsum .
Averbruch is mentioned in documents from around 1500. It was a wetland (Bruch) populated by a few farms. In 1950, Averbruch is already listed in statistics with 1992 inhabitants. The town is bordered to the west by the A59 motorway , which separates Averbruch from Vierlinden , to the north by the city center, to the east by Hiesfeld and Barmingholten and to the south and by Wehofen . Averbruch is divided into residential and commercial areas. To the south are the heaps of the former Wehofen colliery , which are up to 70 m above sea level , as well as a garbage dump , against the expansion of which there are public protests. The small town of Wehoferbruch belongs to the Averbruch settlement district .
The district is connected to the local transport network by bus line 19 and tram line 903 of the Rhein-Ruhr transport association. It is located on Landesstrasse 1 and Bundesstrasse 8 .
