The Oberhausen-Holten station was about eighty years, a train station and is now a breakpoint . It is located on the Oberhausen – Arnhem railway line , which is part of the so-called Betuweroute , an important freight train connection between the Ruhr area and the port of Rotterdam .

The stop is located about two kilometers from the center of the Oberhausen district of Holten on the edge of the Schmachtendorf district .

history

The Holten stop (Kr. Ruhrort) was opened in 1886 by the Cologne-Mindener Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft (CME) on the Oberhausen – Arnhem railway line , which was built on September 1, 1853 ; from this came the torn today reception building . The mayor Holten was at this time just to the mayoralty Sterkrade and the mayor Beeck been (the smaller, western part) was divided and was until 1887 the district Mülheim an der Ruhr .

At the turn of the century , the stop was expanded into a train station of the class III OR. Because after the Holten quarry had been drained by the canalization of the Emscher , there were plans to build one of the first German airports there.

Before the First World War , the name was changed to Holten station . In 1917 Holten was incorporated into the new town of Sterkrade , which in turn was incorporated into the city of Oberhausen in 1929 ; nevertheless, the station was only given the name Oberhausen-Holten station on May 14, 1950 .

On January 28, 1975, the station was converted back into a stop, a stop with a locally connected alternative junction . After the closure of the alternative junction, only the Oberhausen-Holten stop remains today .

From mid-2014 to the end of 2015, the area at Holten train station around the intersection of Emmericher Strasse / Weseler Strasse / Schmachtendorfer Strasse / Bahnstrasse was rebuilt. The intersection has become a roundabout and a small bus station with new bicycle boxes has been created on the green space between the train station and Emmericher Strasse.

service

The stop consists of two side platforms , each 38 centimeters high, which can be reached via stairs and ramps . Platform 1 is 192 meters long, while platform 2 is only 168 meters.

The Oberhausen-Holten Bf bus stop is 100 meters south of the stop at the intersection of Bahnstraße and Emmericher Straße or Weseler Straße .
