location

Löhnen is 4 km west of the core town of Voerde, the district is bounded in the west by Ork , in the northwest by Spellen , in the northeast by Stockum , in the east by Voerde-Mitte and in the south by Götterswickerhamm and Mehrum . The entire local area is part of the nature reserve Rheinvorland.

history

Since 1815/16, Löhnen has belonged to the Götterswickerhamm mayor's office in the Dinslaken district , as have the municipalities of Voerde (Lower Rhine) , Mehrum , Görsicker , Möllen and Spellen . The name of the mayor's office was changed to the mayor's office in Voerde in 1911 . The two communities of Mehrum and Görsicker were incorporated into the community of Löhnen in 1913. In 1927 the mayor's office Voerde became the office of Voerde. In the 1930s the name Götterswickerhamm became common for the district of Görsicker. In 1950 the new municipality of Voerde was created through the union of the municipalities of Löhnen and Voerde.

Attractions

The small place has no special sights. Rather, it is characterized by its location in the foreland nature reserve. It is still worth mentioning "Haus Löhnen", namesake of the place, former knight seat, destroyed by the Spanish in 1589 and later rebuilt. Unfortunately, there are only remains of the foundation and hints of the former moat. "House wages" was first mentioned in the 14th century. The first tenant was Johannes von Podick, who was followed by four generations. Today's Löhnens coat of arms is derived from the von Podicks family coat of arms, a red heart in a silver shield.

At the end of the 1960s, the Dinslaken municipal utilities began looking for suitable, high-quality groundwater resources to supply the city's up-and-coming industry and dynamic population development on behalf of the city of Dinslaken. They found what they were looking for in wages near the Momm valley. They began to build a waterworks with a central softening system , which was innovative at the time .

Education and sport

There is no longer any school in wages; it used to be in the cultural and social meeting place "De alde School". In the local area there is the shooting club BSV "Vivat Löhnen".

economy

The town has several family-run farms as well as the nationally known "Wasserwerk-Löhnen" of Wasserwerke Dinslaken GmbH to name as economic importance.
