Stockum , together with Götterswickerhamm and Mehrum, is documented as the oldest district of today's town of Voerde (Lower Rhine) in the Wesel district , North Rhine-Westphalia, and has 850 inhabitants. The former farmers were never independent and always belonged to the municipality of Voerde. Statistically, Stockum is included in the Voerde-Mitte district .

Stockum is one of eleven districts of the city of Voerde. It is located between the Grenzstraße in the north, the Grünstraße in the south and between the two railway lines.

history

The old dairy was founded on April 25, 1897 as a dairy cooperative. The Protestant church burned down in 1854. In 1859 the church was rebuilt and from then on it received its present appearance. The "Community Stockum der Neukirchener Mission" has existed since 1834.

Stockum's landmark is the “Stockumer Schule” youth and cultural center founded in 1982. This was expanded and partially renovated in the 2010s. Often events or concerts take place there in the evening, while the youth center runs during the day. Other landmarks are the old dairy, the house of the Neukirchen Mission and the Protestant church.

In 1467, Hermann von Loete, vassal of the abbot of Werden on Voerde , founded the St. Marienacker monastery. This monastery stood east of the street "Klosterkamp".

The coat of arms of the founder of the monastery was the same plaque with three golden birds on black bars and a silver-colored background.
