Location of Emmelsum in Voerde (Niederrhein)

Emmelsum is one of the younger districts of the city of Voerde (Lower Rhine) in the Wesel district , North Rhine-Westphalia , and has around 300 inhabitants.

location

Emmelsum is 6.5 km northwest of the core town of Voerde on Landesstraße 4 and Kreisstraße 12. The district is bounded in the west by the Rhine , in the north by the Wesel-Datteln Canal , in the east by Friedrichsfeld (the circular path forms the border) and Ork as well as Spellen in the south.

history

The peasantry Emmelsum was never independently. The place belonged to the municipality Spellen until 1922 . Since 1815/16 Spellen was part of the Götterswickerhamm mayor's office in the Dinslaken district , as were the communities of Voerde (Lower Rhine) , Mehrum , Görsicker , Möllen and Löhnen . The name of the mayor's office was changed to the mayor's office in Voerde in 1911 . Spellen was incorporated into Voerde together with Möllen in 1922. The Voerde mayor's office became the Voerde office in 1928. In 1950 the new municipality of Voerde was created through the union of the municipalities of Löhnen and Voerde. On January 1, 1975, part of Emmelsum north of the Wesel-Datteln Canal was incorporated into the city of Wesel as part of the second reorganization program .

Attractions

The small place has no special sights. The area around the port of Emmelsum is a commercial area. The remaining part is in the nature reserve Rheinvorland (Wardweide). The Friedrichsfeld lock on the Wesel-Datteln Canal is in Emmelsum.
