The district of Lüdenscheid is a former district in North Rhine-Westphalia , which was formed in 1969 from the independent city of Lüdenscheid and the district of Altena . In 1975 it was combined with the district of Iserlohn and the independent city of Iserlohn to form the Märkisches Kreis with its headquarters in Lüdenscheid.

In 1974 the district of Lüdenscheid bordered clockwise in the north, beginning with the districts of Iserlohn , Arnsberg , Olpe , Oberbergischer Kreis , Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis , Rhein-Wupper-Kreis and Ennepe-Ruhr-Kreis .

history

On October 1, 1969, the district became the district of Lüdenscheid.

On January 1, 1975, the district was dissolved and assigned to the new Märkischer Kreis.

coat of arms

The coat of arms was adopted from the Altena district, since the newly formed Lüdenscheid district was largely congruent with the old district of Altena.

In the upper tunnel of the “Sauerfeld ZOB” bus station there is an iron plate with a map of all cities in the former Lüdenscheid district. This is supposed to be a reminder of the Lüdenscheid district that existed for only six years.

License Plate

On July 1, 1956, the independent city of Lüdenscheid was assigned the distinguishing sign LÜD when the license plates that are still valid today were introduced . The district of Lüdenscheid adopted this distinctive sign instead of the previous AL for the district of Altena . It was issued until January 1975.
