With almost 1,400 inhabitants, Küntrop is the largest district of the city of Neuenrade, along with the main town .

location

The place is in the Sauerland about two kilometers east of the small town of Neuenrade in the Märkisches Kreis . The altitude of the place is about 285  m above sea level. NHN in the valley of the Hönne, which is still young here, and climbs up to 499  m on Küntroper Berg.

history

The first mention of the place comes from a document of the Archbishop of Cologne, Anno II. From the year 1068.

Küntrop was an independent municipality in the district of Balve until it was incorporated into the city of Neuenrade on January 1, 1969, on the occasion of the municipal area reform in accordance with the provisions of the law on the reorganization of the Altena district and the independent city of Lüdenscheid .

St. George Church

The listed Allehof and the listed Catholic Church of St. Georg are worth seeing . In 2013, a replica of a moth was inaugurated near the Gevern Castle ground monument .

The federal road 229 runs through the village . There are motorway junctions at Lüdenscheid on the A 45 and in Iserlohn , Neheim-Hüsten and Arnsberg on the A 46 .

A stop of the Hönnetalbahn is located north of the village . The werdohl station is located a few kilometers west of the RE-route Ruhr victory and Hagen main station of the nearest station with links u. a. to the ICE network .

The Werdohl-Küntrop special airfield is in the immediate vicinity .
