District of Opladen

The county Opladen was from 1816 to 1819 existing county in the Prussian Province of Jülich-Cleves-Berg belonging Region of Dusseldorf . On May 1, 1816, Georg Franz von Hauer was appointed provisional district administrator of the district and on January 16, 1817, he was definitively appointed district administrator. On April 30, 1819, the district was dissolved and its area was incorporated into the Solingen district. In 1914 the seat of the Solingen district moved to Opladen after the city of Solingen had become a district. Even after the merger with the Lennep district in 1929 and renaming to Rhein-Wupper-Kreis in 1931, Opladen remained the district town until 1974.

In 1816 the district of Opladen had 22,670 inhabitants.
