history

The place name is derived from the personal name Nikolaus (short form Klaus ), wood is a common name for a forest area. In the 18th century, the place belonged to the parish Witzhelden in the Bergisches Amt Miselohe . The Prussian first recording from 1844 lists the farm as Klassholz .

In 1815/16 there were 21 residents in the village. In 1832 Claasholz belonged to the Burscheid mayor as a border town , the neighboring Oberbüscherhof belonged to the Leichlingen mayor . The place, categorized as a village according to the statistics and topography of the administrative district of Düsseldorf , had three residential buildings and eight agricultural buildings at that time. At that time, 16 residents lived in the village, all of whom were Protestant.

Due to the municipal code for the Rhine province, the parish of Witzhelden received the status of a municipality in 1845, left the Burscheid mayor and formed its own mayor's office from 1850 onwards . In the municipality lexicon for the province of Rhineland in 1885 four houses with 17 inhabitants are given. In 1895 the place had five houses with 28 inhabitants, in 1905 five houses and 23 inhabitants.

On January 1, 1975, the municipality of Witzhelden was incorporated into Leichlingen with Claasholz.
