Höfchenstal is a locality in the town of Leichlingen (Rhineland) in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis .

Location and description

The place is northeast of the Leichlinger Kernort in the summit of the Wupperberg , which drops to the north in the nature reserve Wupperhang with side depths and the Wupper north of Witzhelden and Leichlingen steeply to the lower Wuppertal . The St. Heribert Bach flows east of Höfchenstal .

Höfchenstal can be reached via a driveway from the state road L359 near Sankt Heribert , which also connects the other places of the scattered settlement Grünscheid and also bears the name Grünscheid in Höfchenstal . A renaming of the street in Höfchenstal failed in 2013 due to the protests of the residents.

Other neighboring towns are Paulinenhof , Fähr , Rödel , Hinterberg , Kempen , Bröden , Dierath , Hohlenweg , Pohligshof and Leysiefen .

history

The place did not emerge until the end of the 19th century and is first recorded under the name Höfchensthal in the 1893–95 edition of the Solingen measuring table sheet of the official topographic map 1: 25,000 . The spelling changed from the 1984 edition to Höfchenthal . The Leichlingen city administration manages the location under Höfchenstal .

In the first third of the 20th century, a water tower was built on site , which had existed until the 1970s / 1980s.
