Müllerhof is located on the Wupper, north of the center of Leichling, in the natural spatial unit of Lower Wuppertal, east of the L288 state road, right on the city limits of Solingen . The forest near Müllerhof nature reserve is located near the village . The river bed of the Wupper is protected with side streams in the nature reserve valley and slope areas of the Wupper .

Neighboring towns are Bungenstraße and Ziegwebersberg on the Leichlinger urban area on this side of the Wupper and Kradenpuhl , Unterberg , Scheidt , Kuhle and Hülstrung on the other side of the river. The neighboring towns of Horn , Gosse , Rupelrath and Hütte are located in Solingen's urban area .

The original agricultural business in Müllerhof was heavily redesigned from 1987 onwards due to excessive building activities by the owner. The shell of the villa-shaped manor that was built in its place is often the target of press reports due to its extremely large dimensions.

history

The Müllerhof was first mentioned in a document in 1307 as a fiefdom of Deutz Abbey. The entry " Fleckone de Muylendino " can be found in the documents of the abbey after the feudal lords of the time, the Bergisch noble family Vlecke or Flecko . The Müllerhof is the associated estate of a grinding mill on the Wupper, mentioned in 1166, or a mill on the nearby Rupelrath Bach , both of which can no longer be located. Other mentions of different owners of the Müllerhof can be found in 1447, 1455, 1495, 1562, around 1600, 1607 and 1620. The Müllerhof is also called Scheffgesmühle or Scheffgenmühle in documents from the 16th and 17th centuries .

The map Topographia Ducatus Montani from 1715 shows a farm under the name Müllershof . In the 18th century, the place belonged to the parish of Leichlingen in the Bergisches Amt Miselohe . The topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 and the Prussian first survey from 1844 both record the place as Müllerhof .

In 1815/16 ten people lived in the village. In 1832 Müllerhof belonged to the mayor's office in Leichlingen . The place, which was categorized as arable property according to the statistics and topography of the Düsseldorf administrative district , had a residential house and two agricultural buildings at the time. At that time there were 20 people living in the village, 19 of them Catholic and one Protestant.

In the municipality lexicon for the Rhineland province in 1885, a house with six inhabitants is given. In 1895 the place had a house with seven inhabitants, in 1905 one house and nine inhabitants.

From 1803 the Müllerhof is owned by the Mirbach family, who sold it to a former master carpenter in 1987. On September 9, 1907, large parts of the Müllerhof burned down. In 1943 the farmer Karl Kauert was killed by a bomb, in 1945 foreign workers killed Martin Boddenberg. After the sale in 1987 to a Düsseldorf master carpenter, the old court estate was demolished and the new building, described as pompous, in which it burned in 1995. The several decades of construction work stopped several times and were resumed after delays.
