Dierath is a village in the town of Leichlingen (Rhineland) in the Rheinisch-Bergisch district that emerged from a court .

Location and description

Dierath is located northeast of the center of Leichlingen on the Leichlinger plateau on the upper reaches of the Schmerbach at Landesstraße 359. Beyond the Landesstraße is the Hohlenweg estate . Other neighboring towns are Roderhof , Grünscheid , Bröden , Kempen , Leysiefen , Pohligshof , Diepenbroich , Oberschmitte , Bennert , Buntenbach , Weide , Waltenrath , Schmerbach , Wachholder , Bergerhof , Bertenrath and Neuland . Wüst has fallen Büchel house .

history

Dierath was a fiefdom of the Deutz Abbey . The map Topographia Ducatus Montani from 1715 shows the farm under the name Dierath . In the 18th century, the place belonged to the parish of Leichlingen in the Bergisches Amt Miselohe . The topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 and the Prussian first survey from 1844 recorded the place as Dierath .

In 1815/16 there were 50 people living in the village. In 1832 Dierath belonged to the mayor's office in Leichlingen . The place, which was categorized as a court town according to the statistics and topography of the Düsseldorf administrative district , had nine residential buildings and nine agricultural buildings at that time. At that time, 38 residents lived in the place, four of them Catholic and 34 Protestant.

In the municipality lexicon for the province of Rhineland in 1885 13 houses with 70 inhabitants are given. In 1895 the place had nine houses with 55 inhabitants, in 1905 eight houses and 31 inhabitants.
