Nesselrath is a village in the town of Leichlingen (Rhineland) in the Rheinisch-Bergisch district that emerged from a court .

Location and description

Nesselrath is located on the Wupper north of the center of Leichlingen on Kreisstraße 1 in the natural spatial unit of Lower Wuppertal . The nearby river forms the city limits to Solingen . To the east is the Niederungsburg Haus Nesselrath .

Other neighboring towns are Kradenpuhl , Altenhof , Scheidt , Büchelshäuschen , Kuhle , Diepenbroich , Oberschmitte and Bennert in the Leichling city area on this side of the Wupper and Horn , Gosse , Birkendahl , Eickenberg and Haasenmühle in the Solingen city area on the other side of the Wuppers.

In the 18th century, the place belonged to the parish of Leichlingen in the Bergisches Amt Miselohe . The topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 and the Prussian first survey from 1844 both record the place as Nesselrath .

In 1832 Nesselrath belonged to the mayor's office in Leichlingen . Which according to the statistics and topography of the district of Dusseldorf as Ackergut categorized place had at this time four houses and ten agricultural buildings. At that time, 33 residents lived in the village, all of whom were Protestant.

In the municipality lexicon for the Rhineland province in 1885 twelve houses with 78 inhabitants are given. In 1895 the place had ten houses with 48 inhabitants, in 1905 ten houses and 49 inhabitants.
