Schneppenpohl is a residential area in the town of Leichlingen (Rhineland) in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis .

Location and description

Schneppenpohl is located east of the center of Leichling on a ridge between the Murbach and the Weltersbach on the state road 294 near the city limits of Burscheid . The place has grown together with the places Krabbenhäuschen and the much larger Metzholz opposite the state road to form a local area and is no longer perceptible as a separate living space. The entire settlement area is now assigned to Metzholz. Other neighboring towns are Tyrol , Windfoche , Eichen , Wiedenbach , Scheuerhof , Koltershäuschen , Weltersbach , Unterbüscherhof , Schüddig , Holzerhof , Wilhelmstal , Sieferhof , Krähwinkel and, in the Burscheider urban area, Unterwietsche .

history

Schneppenpohl did not come into being until the end of the 19th century and is recorded for the first time on the edition of the measuring table sheet Solingen (1893–95) of the official topographic map 1: 25,000 with labeling. The place was at the former border of the mayor's office Witzhelden , the neighboring town of Metzholz was already in the mayor's office and the city of Leichlingen . On January 1, 1975, the municipality of Witzhelden was incorporated into Leichlingen with Schneppenpohl.
