history

Feld was founded by weavers from the Jülich area who, due to the ducal economic policy, settled in Witzhelden in the geographical vicinity of their castle castle residence . The topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 and the Prussian first survey of 1844 already record the place unlabeled as part of the settlement area of Witzhelden. The table sheet Solingen of the official topographic map 1: 25,000 shows the place in the editions 1929 to 1974 continuously labeled with field . In 1815/16 there were 79 people living in the village. In 1832 field belonged to the parish Witzhelden of the Burscheid mayor . The place, categorized as a village according to the statistics and topography of the Düsseldorf administrative district , had 13 residential houses and 15 agricultural buildings at that time. At that time there were 66 people living in the village, all of them Protestant beliefs.

Due to the municipal code for the Rhine province, the parish of Witzhelden received the status of a municipality in 1845, left the Burscheid mayor and formed its own mayor's office from 1850 onwards . In the municipality lexicon for the Rhineland province in 1885, 22 houses with 98 inhabitants are given. In 1895 the place had 19 houses with 76 inhabitants, in 1905 19 houses and 62 inhabitants.

On January 1, 1975, the municipality of Witzhelden was incorporated into Leichlingen with field.
