history
The map Topographia Ducatus Montani from 1715 shows two farms under the name Widenbach . In the 18th century, the place belonged to the parish Witzhelden in the Bergisches Amt Miselohe . The topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 and the Prussian first survey from 1844 both record the place as a Weidenbach .
In 1815/16 nine people lived in the village, which was located directly on the border with the mayor's office in Leichlingen . In 1832 Wiedenbach belonged to the parish Witzhelden of the Burscheid mayor . The place, which was categorized as a court town according to the statistics and topography of the Düsseldorf administrative district , had two residential buildings and four agricultural buildings at the time. At that time, twelve people lived in the village, all of whom were Protestant.
Due to the municipal code for the Rhine province, the parish of Witzhelden received the status of a municipality in 1845, left the Burscheid mayor and formed its own mayor's office from 1850 onwards . Wiedenbach was on the border, the neighboring town of Metzholz was already in the Leichlingen mayor's office . In the municipality lexicon for the Rhineland province in 1885, two houses with eleven inhabitants are given. In 1895 the place had two houses with seven inhabitants, in 1905 one house and four inhabitants.
On January 1, 1975 the community Witzhelden was incorporated with Wiedenbach in Leichlingen. At the end of the 20th century the place fell into desolation.
