Bertenrath is a court in the town of Leichlingen (Rhineland) in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis .

Location and description

Bertenrath is located north of the center of Leichling on Kreisstraße 10 in the eastern slope of the Leichling plateau, which slopes down towards the Wupper . The nearby river forms the city limit to Solingen north of the town .

Neighboring towns are Kradenpuhl , Nesselrath , Altenhof , Scheidt , Kuhle , Hülstrung , Bergerhof , Weide , Bennert , Diepenbroich , Oberschmitte , Ellenbogen , Buntenbach , Waltenrath , Bechlenberg , Pohligshof , Dierath , Wachholder , Schmerbach and Unterberg . Wüst has fallen Büchel house .

history

Bertenrath was first mentioned in 1327 as Bertenroth . The place name is derived from the person or family name Bertho , combined with the clearing toponym -rath . The map Topographia Ducatus Montani from 1715 shows the farm under the name Bertenrath . In the 18th century, the place belonged to the parish of Leichlingen in the Bergisches Amt Miselohe . The topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 and the Prussian first survey from 1844 record the place as Berthenrath and Bertenrath .

In 1815/16 14 people lived in the village. In 1832 Bertenrath belonged to the mayor's office in Leichlingen . The place, which was categorized as a court town according to the statistics and topography of the Düsseldorf administrative district , had six residential buildings and eleven agricultural buildings at that time. At that time, 35 people lived in the village, all of whom were Protestant.

In 1885, the municipality encyclopedia for the Rhineland province lists eight houses with 33 residents. In 1895 the place had ten houses with 48 inhabitants, in 1905 nine houses and 40 inhabitants.
