history

The map Topographia Ducatus Montani from 1715 shows two farms under the name ad Meien . In the 18th century, the place belonged to the parish Witzhelden in the Bergisches Amt Miselohe . The topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 and the Prussian first survey from 1844 both record the place as Meyen .

19 inhabitants lived in the village in 1815/16. In 1832 Meie belonged to the parish Witzhelden of the mayor's office of Burscheid under the name Maye . The place, which was categorized as a court town according to the statistics and topography of the Düsseldorf administrative district , had six residential buildings and eight agricultural buildings at that time. At that time, 38 residents lived in the village, all of whom were Protestant.

Due to the municipal code for the Rhine province, the parish of Witzhelden received the status of a municipality in 1845, left the Burscheid mayor and formed its own mayor's office from 1850 onwards . In the municipality lexicon for the Rhineland province in 1885, 17 houses with 78 inhabitants are given. In 1895 the place had 18 houses with 100 inhabitants, in 1905 17 houses and 76 inhabitants.

From the middle of the 20th century, the vacant lots were filled with neighboring Nüsenhofen, which in turn grew together with witty heroes. On January 1, 1975, the community of Witzhelden was incorporated with Meie in Leichlingen.
