Stepan Solskyi
Stepan Mychailowytsch Solskyj ( Ukrainian Степан Михайлович Сольський , Russian Стефан Михайлович Сольский / Stefan Mikhailovich Solski * January 27 . Jul / 8. February 1835 greg. In Volyn , † November 7 jul. / 20th November 1900 greg. In Kiev ) was a Ukrainian theologian and mayor of Kiev city from 1887 to 1900 .
Life
Solskyj was born in the Volyn Governorate in 1835 into a priestly family. He studied theology at the Volhyn Orthodox Theological Academy in Kremenez until 1857 and then until 1861 at the Kiev Theological Academy . There he became a doctor and from 1867 a professor. In 1879 he became the deputy mayor and from 1887 to 1900 he was the mayor of the city of Kiev. He died in Kiev in 1900 and was buried in the Lukjanivska cemetery there .
A chapel was built over his grave in 1902 by the Kiev architect Eduard Bradtman .
