history

The map Topographia Ducatus Montani from 1715 shows the farm under the name Orth . In the 18th century, the place belonged to the parish of Leichlingen in the Bergisches Amt Miselohe . The topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 and the Prussian first survey from 1844 record the place as Ort or Orth .

In 1815/16 51 people lived in the village. In 1832 Orth belonged to the Witzhelden parish of the Burscheid mayor . The place, categorized as a village according to the statistics and topography of the administrative district of Düsseldorf , had eleven residential buildings and 18 agricultural buildings at that time. At that time there were 69 residents living in the village, all of whom were Protestant.

Due to the municipal code for the Rhine province, the parish of Witzhelden received the status of a municipality in 1845, left the Burscheid mayor and formed its own mayor's office from 1850 onwards . In the municipality lexicon for the Rhineland province in 1885, 19 houses with 79 inhabitants are given. In 1895 the place had 17 houses with 78 inhabitants, in 1905 15 houses and 61 inhabitants.

On January 1, 1975, the municipality of Witzhelden was incorporated with Orth in Leichlingen.

Orth was from Wupperhof to the 1970 end point of the blade ring - mountain race on the national road 427, which was in turn blade ring from 1954 part of the wheel heading.
