history

In the Middle Ages and early modern times, Rödel was the titular place of the Honschaft Rödel in the parish of Leichlingen in the Bergisch Amt of Miselohe . The map Topographia Ducatus Montani from 1715 names him under the name Rödel . The topographical recording of the Rhineland from 1824 shows the place unlabeled and the Prussian first recording from 1844 as "Roedel".

In 1815/16 54 people lived in the village. In 1832 Rödel belonged to the mayor's office in Leichlingen . The place, categorized as a village according to the statistics and topography of the administrative district of Düsseldorf , had eleven houses, a mill or factory and nine agricultural buildings at that time. At that time 63 residents lived in the place, three of them Catholic and 60 Protestant denominations. The mill location on the St. Heribert Bach, located directly on the Wupper, became a separate living space under the name Fähr.

In the municipality lexicon for the Rhineland province in 1885, eleven houses with 53 inhabitants are listed. In 1895 the place had six houses with 20 inhabitants, in 1905 13 houses and 54 inhabitants.
