Neuland is a village that emerged from a court in the city of Leichlingen (Rhineland) in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis .

Location and description

Neuland lies east of the center of Leichlingen on the ridge between the Wuppertal and the Schmerbachtal on Landrat-Trimborn-Straße . The location today forms a closed settlement with Wachholder, which is also on the road to the north .

Other neighboring towns in addition to the core town are Roderhof , Roderbirken , Schmerbach , Bergerhof , Waltenrath , Weide , Buntenbach , Bechlenberg , Am Hammer , Hüschelrath and Johannisberg .

history

The map Topographia Ducatus Montani from 1715 shows the farm under the name Neühof . In the 18th century, the place belonged to the parish of Leichlingen in the Bergisches Amt Miselohe . The topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 and the Prussian first survey from 1844 both record the place as new territory .

In 1815/16 37 people lived in the village. In 1832, Neuland belonged to the mayor's office of Leichlingen under the name Wacholdern . The place, which was categorized as a court town according to the statistics and topography of the Düsseldorf administrative district , had eight residential buildings and eight agricultural buildings at that time. At that time, 41 residents lived in the village, 15 of them Catholic and 26 Protestant.

In the municipality lexicon for the province of Rhineland 1885 18 houses with 90 inhabitants are given. In 1895 the place had 16 houses with 81 inhabitants, in 1905 16 houses and 89 inhabitants.
