Kempen , in the 19th century also Kämpe or Kämpen , is a court in the town of Leichlingen (Rhineland) in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis .

Location and description

Kempen is located northeast of the Leichlinger center on the Leichlinger plateau on the upper reaches of the Schmerbach near the Landesstraße 359. Neighboring towns are Roderhof , Grünscheid , Pohligshof , Bröden , Hohlenweg , Dierath , Diepenbroich , Oberschmitte , Bennert , Buntenbach , Weide , Waltenrath , Schmerbach , Sankt Heribert , Bergerhof , Bertenrath and Neuland .

history

In the 18th century, the place belonged to the parish of Leichlingen in the Bergisches Amt Miselohe . On the Leichlingen district map from 1803 the place bears the name Kämpe , the municipality map from 1830 also shows it as Kämpe . The topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 and the Prussian first survey from 1844 record the farm as Kempen and Kämpen .

In 1815/16 ten people lived in the village. In 1832 Kempen belonged to the mayor's office of Leichlingen under the name Kampe . The place, which was categorized as a court town according to the statistics and topography of the Düsseldorf administrative district , had nine residential buildings and 14 agricultural buildings at the time. At that time 51 residents lived in the place, all of them Protestant faith.

In the municipality lexicon for the Rhineland province in 1885, eight houses with 32 inhabitants are given. In 1895 the place had six houses with 26 inhabitants, in 1905 seven houses and 28 inhabitants.
