Kellerhansberg is a locality in the town of Leichlingen (Rhineland) in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis .

Location and description

Kellerhansberg is located between the federal autobahn 3 and the state road L288 on the western edge of Leichlingen on the city limit of Langenfeld (Rhineland) at the end of the street Am Kellerhansberg . The original residential area from the 19th century fell into desolation in the 1930s, and the name of the settlement was transferred to the individual houses built later to the west of it.

To the west of Kellerhansberg, the Leichlinger Sandberge were located partly in the urban area of Langenfeld , which were largely removed for sand mining. The name Kellerhansberg is derived from an elevation of the same name in the sand mountains, which was almost completely removed by the middle of the 20th century. The Leichlinger Kommunalfriedhof Kellerhansberg and the Leichlinger Naturfreundehaus with an attached campsite are located in the locality, to the northwest the Langenfeld motorway junction was built in the 1980s .

To the east of Kellerhansberg are the residential areas Unterschmitte , Am Adler and Stockberg on the Landesstrasse , south of the residential area Roßlenbruch . Other neighboring places, mostly those in the western suburb of Leichlingen, are Hüttchen , Merlenforst , Scheeresberg , Kaltenberg , Brückerfeld , Bremsen , Windfahne and Bockstiege .

history

The location of Kellerhansberg was built as a single house in the first half of the 19th century and is unmarked on the Prussian first recording from 1844. At the end of the century, large-scale sand mining began in the area of the residential area. From the northwest sand pit end of the century brought a light railway to the railway Gruiten-Cologne-Mülheim at the station . In the first third of the 20th century, several more detached houses were built west of the first residential area, one of which was built in 1924 by the Leichlingen Friends of Nature and used as a house for friends of nature and a youth hostel .

The southwestern sand pit expanded northward and the original living space was removed. Today, the local cemetery of the same name, which also includes a chapel, is located on the mining site and the location of the original settlement. In the middle of the 20th century a sports field was set up near Kellerhansberg. A campsite was added to the Naturfreundehaus in the 1990s.
