The Langenfeld motorway junction (abbreviation: AK Langenfeld ; short form: Langenfeld cross ) is a motorway junction in North Rhine-Westphalia , which is located in the Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan region . The A 542 ends here and merges into the federal motorway 3 ( Oberhausen - Frankfurt am Main - Passau ).

The cross lies in the area of ​​the city of Langenfeld . The surrounding cities are Leichlingen , Solingen , Hilden and Leverkusen . It is located about 20 km north of Cologne and about 25 km southeast of Düsseldorf .

The Langenfeld junction is number 21 on the A3 and number 4 on the A 542.

Design

Originally the A 542 was part of the planned federal motorway 54 , which was to lead from the Dutch border to the Sauerland. That is why the cross, although actually only accessible as a triangle, is built as a clover leaf. Further construction to the east is currently being planned; there is only one access to a landfill today.

The A 3 has six lanes in this area, the A 542 four lanes.
