The Offenbacher Kreuz is a motorway junction in Hesse , which is located in the Rhine-Main area . The A 661 ( Taunusschnellweg ), the A 3 ( Oberhausen - Frankfurt am Main - Passau ) and the B 3 intersect here .

The cross is in the area of ​​the city of Offenbach am Main . The surrounding cities are Neu-Isenburg , Frankfurt, Heusenstamm , Dietzenbach and Dreieich . It is located about 5 km south of downtown Frankfurt and about 20 km north of Darmstadt .

The Offenbacher Kreuz is number 52 on the A 3 and number 17 on the A 661.

Design

The cross actually consists of two parts. The northern part is a normal fork that connects the B 3 with the A 661. The southern part is an adapted clover leaf that connects the A 661 with the A 3.

State of development

In the area of ​​the cross both motorways run on six lanes. All ramps are single-lane until they are merged, then two-lane.

Planning

A renovation of the Offenbacher Kreuz is included in the Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan 2030 in the highest category Urgent Need - Elimination of Bottlenecks . In addition to the unbundling of the turning relationships in the interlacing areas, a replacement of the indirect loop ramp from west to north with a two-lane semi-direct ramp, as well as a two-lane expansion of the connecting ramps between A3 and the A661 from and to the north is planned.

Traffic volume

After the Frankfurter Kreuz and the Köln-Ost motorway junction, the cross is the busiest road junction in Germany with around 242,000 vehicles per day.
