The Mönchhof triangle is a motorway triangle in Hesse , which is located in the Rhine-Main area . Here the federal highway 67 (Rhine-Main area - Rhine-Neckar area ) branches off from the federal highway 3 ( Oberhausen - Frankfurt am Main - Passau ).

geography

The triangle is named after the Mönchhof district of Raunheim , in whose area it is also located. The surrounding cities are Kelsterbach , Frankfurt, Rüsselsheim , Mörfelden-Walldorf , Hattersheim and Flörsheim . It is located about 15 km southwest of Frankfurt and about 18 km southeast of Wiesbaden . It is also in the immediate vicinity of Frankfurt Airport .

The Mönchhof triangle is number 48 on the A 3 and number 1 on the A 67. It forms a double junction with the Raunheim AS on the A 3 .

Design

The triangle is one of the few in Germany that was built in a T-shape. Typical for this is the elaborate construction, such as the simultaneous underpass and overpass of the A 3. This is also reminiscent of half a Maltese cross.

State of development

The A 3 has been expanded to six lanes in this area. There are four lanes on the A 67. All ramps can be used in two lanes until they are merged and the actual start of the A 67 or the approach to the A 3.

Traffic volume

With around 178,000 vehicles per day, the Mönchhof triangle is one of the busiest traffic hubs in Hessen.
