Schüddig is a residential area and former mill location in the city of Leichlingen (Rhineland) in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis .

Location and description

Schüddig is located east of the center of Leichlingen on the K 6 district road. The village is located below the Ufer , Holzerhof and Unterbüscherhof am Weltersbach farms , which have grown together to form a village .

Other neighboring towns are Sieferhof , Krähwinkel , Neukrähwinkel , Wilhelmstal , Metzholz , Schneppenpohl , Krabbenhäuschen , Weltersbach , Heeg , Hinterberg , Paulinenhof , Claasholz and Oberbüscherhof .

Listed half-timbered ensemble in Schüddig

The Topographia Ducatus Montani map from 1715 shows a courtyard with an adjacent mill under the name Schüddig . In the 18th century, the place belonged to the parish of Leichlingen in the Bergisches Amt Miselohe . The topographical recording of the Rhineland from 1824 shows a mill symbol and the Prussian first recording from 1844 records the place as Schüddigger M. Schüddig was located in Leichlinger area directly on the border to the parish Witzhelden, which formed its own mayor's office and municipality from 1845 to 1974 .

In 1815/16 ten people lived in the village. In 1832 Schüddig belonged to the mayor's office in Leichlingen . The place, which was categorized as a mill according to the statistics and topography of the Düsseldorf administrative district , had two residential buildings, the mill and four agricultural buildings at that time. At that time, nine people lived in the village, all of whom were Protestant.

In the municipality lexicon for the Rhineland province in 1885, three houses with 13 inhabitants are given. In 1895 the place had two houses with 13 inhabitants, in 1905 two houses and eight inhabitants.
