history

Bockstiege was east of Sandstrasse , an old road from Aufderhöhe to Opladen and today's state road L288. The map Topographia Ducatus Montani from 1715 shows two farms under the name Bogstern . In the 18th century, the place belonged to the parish of Leichlingen in the Bergisches Amt Miselohe . The topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 shows the place as Oberbüscherhof and the Prussian first survey from 1844 lists it as Bockstieg , the Leichlinger municipality map from 1830 also as Bocksteg .

In 1815/16 there were 62 people living in the village. In 1832 Bockstiege belonged to the mayor's office in Leichlingen . The place, which was categorized as a court town according to the statistics and topography of the Düsseldorf administrative district , had six residential buildings and eight agricultural buildings at that time. At that time, 38 residents lived in the village, two of them Catholic and 36 Protestant. In 1867 the Gruiten – Cologne – Mülheim railway was opened east of Am Adler .

In the municipality lexicon for the Rhineland province in 1885, eleven houses with 60 inhabitants are listed. In 1895 the place had eleven houses with 58 inhabitants, in 1905 16 houses and 87 inhabitants.

In the first third of the 20th century, the gaps in the residential and commercial development with the neighboring residential areas were closed and Bockstiege became part of the western suburb of Leichlingen. At the time, commercial enterprises settled in the area, and their extensive plant facilities largely determine the area around the Bockstiege.
